Mokokchung, September 6 (MTNews): A book on Ao Naga indigenous games titled “Ao Lisopur Saisabong” (Ao Indigenous Games) authored by I. Temjen Tzüdir and Toshisangla was released on Tuesday at Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung. The book, formally released today by R. Arenla Aier, Vice-Principal, FAC, is a publication of Ao Senden Literature Board (ASLB). The book will be read as part of the B.A. Ao generic elective syllabus in the college. The contents of the book include names and meanings of indigenous games, their origin and interpretation, types of indigenous games and the need to preserve them. Both of the authors are associated with ASLB with I. Temjen Tzüdir being the secretary of ASLB and Toshisangla a member as well as HoD, Ao Department, FAC.

During the release of the book, R. Arenla Aier congratulated the authors and said that the book was a very important and much needed one. She said that the book will be resourceful to people who already know about indigenous games as well as help to educate those who don’t.
She also said that the introduction of Ao as an honors subject at the college level was a great achievement and congratulated the ASLB chairman and its members.
ASLB Chairman Dr. L.Temjen Jamir also spoke briefly at the book release where he said that just as Ao has been introduced as an honors subject in FAC, the ASLB will put more effort into trying to introduce it to other colleges also. He also informed that a book on Ao Indigenous Games was needed in the Ao Honours course and, therefore, the ASLB entrusted the two authors to write a book on it. He thanked the two authors for fulfilling the need and completing the book on time.
