April 30, Mokokchung (MTNews): In accordance with the National Education Policy 2020 that strongly emphasizes on vocational education to improve the students’ skills, the I.T and T.H departments of MGHSS organized an industrial visit for their class-10 students under the Samagra Shiksha Nagaland on 30th April 2022. Mayangnokcha Government Higher Secondary School started the Information Technology (IT) and Tourism & Hospitality (T&H) vocational from from 2014 and 2017 respectively.
The Samagra Shiksha is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme for Vocationalisation of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education by the Ministry of Human Resources Development to integrate employability education into school education in September 2011. Since its inception, every year both the departments of the school have been organizing Industrial visits for Skill Development of the students.
This year, 23 students from the Department of Information Technology visited All India Radio, Mokokchung under the guidance of Tiawati, Vocational Trainer (IT). The visit was coordinated by Er. K Houngam, Senior Engineering Assistant, All India Radio.
Through this industrial visit, the students got to know the production studio, Electronic & Technical Section, Recording Studio, Data Entry and station library. The students were also taught about analog communication systems.
Meanwhile, 25 students from the Department of Tourism & Hospitality visited ‘The Restaurant’ at Mokokchung, along with the Vocational Trainer Amongla Longkumer where ‘Hotel etiquette for guest’ and table layout were taught.
The students found the visit enjoyable and beneficial as they became more aware of industrial practices and regulations.
