The Jangpetkong range, along with its two neighboring ranges in Mokokchung district, holds great potential for Nagaland’s economic development. Research estimates indicate that approximately 600 million metric tonnes of crude oil are present in Nagaland, with the highest concentration of this deposit located along these three ranges, said Advisor for Transport and Technical Education, Government of Nagaland, Temjenmenba.

To tap into this potential, Advisor Temjenmenba emphasized the need for cohesion, urging village councils to become more assertive and adapt social norms that align with the pace of developmental advancements.

Temjenmenba made this statement during the conclusion of the two-day 75th Jangpetkong Senso Mungdang (JSM) conference, held at Molungyimsen Village, Mokokchung, on 31 January 2025, where he was the guest of honor.

In his address, Temjenmenba highlighted the historical significance of Molungyimsen, noting that Christianity first came to the village and eventually spread throughout Nagaland. “It is therefore imperative for us to continue the legacy left behind by our forefathers,” he said.

He also urged the gathering to set achievable targets and work towards them for the betterment of society.

Chuba Ozukum, Convenor of the Global Naga Forum & Former President of the Naga Hoho, exhorted the gathering with his thoughts on relevant socio-economic issues. He emphasized how, with the right perspective, society can change and shape its future course.

The program was presided over by JSM office bearers, with cultural performances by Dibuia Village Council members, followed by an invocation pronounced by Rev. Tajung, Pastor of Molungyimsen Baptist Church.
