Members of the Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) described their meeting with the Chief Secretary and senior bureaucrats at the Kohima Secretariat as “fruitful” on the second day of their pen-down strike.

The strike, which began on October 14, is the third phase of the JCC’s agitation and includes government service associations such as CANSSEA, FONSESA, NIDA, NSSA, and NF&ASA. The protest seeks a resolution from the state government on issues related to the induction of Non-State Civil Service officers into the Indian Administrative Service (IAS).

According to Dr Illang, core committee member and spokesperson of the JCC, the delegation was briefed on procedural matters, including vacancy circulars, Cabinet decisions, and other administrative processes. The committee also formally presented their key demands.

While the discussion was constructive, Dr Illang told Eastern Mirror that they are waiting for a clear decision from the government before considering any suspension of the strike. He added that the JCC plans to meet again on Thursday to decide the next steps if their concerns are not addressed.

The committee emphasized that the strike will continue as planned until the government responds to their core issues. (With inputs from EM)
