The Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) has called off its ongoing Pen Down and Tools Down Strike with immediate effect following the Nagaland government’s decision to revisit the issue of IAS induction of Non-State Civil Service (Non-SCS) officers.
In a circular issued on November 6, JCC convenor Kitto Swu informed that the decision came after the committee deliberated on the press release issued by the state government on the same day, signed by the Chief Secretary. The JCC acknowledged the Cabinet’s decision and announced the withdrawal of the strike.

The government’s press release stated that the Cabinet has decided “to revisit all the decisions taken on the matter so as to arrive at an informed decision regarding the eligibility criteria for induction of Non SCS into IAS after taking into account the views of all the stakeholders.”
The JCC, which comprises the Confederation of All Nagaland State Services Employees Association (CANSSEA), Federation of Nagaland State Engineering Service Association (FONSESA), Nagaland In-Service Doctors Association (NIDA), Nagaland Secretariat Service Association (NSSA), and Nagaland Finance & Accounts Service Association (NF&ASA), said it firmly believes that the Government will abide by its decision in letter and in spirit and uphold meritocracy.”
