Mokokchung, June 23 (MTNews): A High Powered Delegation of the Janata Dal (United) will be visiting Nagaland on June 29 and will be in the state till July 1. The JDU Nagaland has in a press release informed that the purpose of their visit is in order to “pay tribute to Jaya Prakash Narayan, Member of Peace Mission and his love for the Naga people.”
“It may be recalled that Jaya Prakash Narayan, lovingly called JP, had traversed many length and breadth of the Naga areas as Member of Peace Mission in the 1960s to understand the pulse of the Naga people and their political movement for independence,” JDU Nagaland said in their press release.
The party also said that it was the “ardent desire of JP who conveyed to the Indian Government of the day that a displeased Nagas at the border would be very detrimental to the interest of India. Hence, solution must be found.”
Apart from meeting with various civil societies on 30th June, the High Power Delegation will pay a visit to Late A. Z Phizo grave and also meet with the press fraternity.
The 6-member delegation shall comprise of Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh, National President, JDU and MP ( Lok Sabha) & Leader of the JDU in Lok Sabhaas well as Chairman, Parliamentary Board on Energy; Afaque Ahmed Khan, National General Secretary Northeast In-charge and Member of Legislative Council, Bihar; Harshvardhan Singh, National General Secretary, JDU; Kaushalendra Kumar, MP ( Lok Sabha); Ramprit Mandal, MP ( Lok Sabha) and Aneel Prasad Hegde, MP( Rajya Sabha).
