Journalists in North East called to unite towards jointly resolving prevailing issues

Kohima, 23 January (MTNews): Journalists in the North East region have been called to unite towards jointly resolving prevailing issues in the area. This was urged upon today during a coordination meeting of the North East Working Journalists’ Union (NEWJU) with members of the Kohima Press Club (KPC) at the KPC Office.

The NEWJU team comprised its president Ratul Borah, advisor Sumesh Deka, and assistant general secretaries Jitu Kalita and Narayan Bahadur.

Highlighting the purpose of the meeting, union advisor Sumesh Deka said people of North East states must unite through journalism. Citing the ethnic problems in the region, he stressed upon working together and solving the problems ourselves.

The union advisor extended invitation to KPC members to join the forum, and also deliberated upon jointly striving for the welfare of working journalists in the North East. He further stated happiness to see the female strength of working journalists in Nagaland.

NEWJU president Ratul Borah also reiterated the need for journalists in the region to come together so they can take up common issues such as the pension scheme, among others, for journalists.
President of KPC, Alice Yhoshü expressed solidarity and support to the NEWJU.
