Kohima, September 7 (MTNews): Over the failure to address its grievances regarding Grade -B promotion under Nagaland Engineering Service Rules, the All Nagaland Junior Engineers’ Association (ANJEA), comprising Nagaland Public Works Department (NPWD), Public Health Engineering (PHE) and Power departments, has resolved to stage a democratic protest against the state government.

According to the union, the engineers in the Group-B cadre were denied timely advancement to the position of SDO and were never given the chance for further promotion.

According to a press release from the association, “so many members have retired without a single promotion and more members are in line due to stagnation,” and “despite submitting representations and subsequent reminders, the government has yet to take any positive steps to address their grievances.”

The Association has made the decision to begin its “first stage” of democratic form of protest for six days beginning on September 12 by donning black badges as a means of expressing its resentment. If “the Association did not receive any positive outcome,” it was noted, the second stage would continue in the form of earned or casual leave.
