MTimes: How impressed are you with your team?
Kamson: Unfortunately we didn’t have much time to practice this time. The team selection happened very late and we got only one week to practice. Kivi was in Kerala and he joined us only the previous day before we got to Mokokchung. Even Victor had his holiday late and moreover, this year we have lots of young state players as well and we couldn’t have the combine practice so we couldn’t give our best.
MTimes: What are your thoughts on the Mon team and how prepared are you for the finals?
Kamson: Mon has lots of strong points. Their forward line is excellent. Laiwang has played with Minerva FC and is one of Nagaland’s top players, who creates a lot. Their right out, left out and striker are excellent but our defense is really good. I’m confident that our stopper can compete with their strong defense.
Players like Ating and Sanyem are players I’ve trained and I know that Ating is an excellent midfielder and an amazing playmaker that creates a lot of chances and supplies ball to their forwards. Sanyem is a great defense. Perhaps, Mon’s sidelines will be their weakness otherwise they are an excellent team. We have prepared and discussed our strategy well and who to mark so, let’s see.
Our striker Kivi is yet to score a goal. I’ve told him that my expectations on him are high and hopefully he’ll have a goal in the 90 minutes.
We have many very good players. Pursunep is an incredible player and scores every match. I have faith in him. Kakhevi on the right has speed and we are placing our hope on them.
Likewise, we also have good players in our mid. I cannot predict what will happen. The team that plays better will win because both the teams are equally good. I have just left it upon God.

MTimes: What has your experience in Mokokchung been like?
Kamson: This is my second time in Mokokchung. I was here as the coach of Barak FC when they lifted the title on 2012. I’ve always said that Mokokchung is second Kohima. The people here are quite educated and they have very good people.
