Mokokchung, August 31 (MTNews): Describing the expression of support by 8 Naga Manipur MLAs for Manipur CM Biren Singh as another ‘milestone’ in the history of the Naga Political struggle, former Finance Minister K Therie, through a press release, urged the Nagaland MLAs to be clear that the Nagas of Manipur desire to remain within the state of Manipur.
Therie also noted that despite the condemnation from the UNC and NSCN (IM), he emphasized that the 8 MLAs were elected with their support. “They may deny, but the 8 MLAs have not withdrawn. They are legal representatives of the people and what they tender is legal before the ruling Government,” he observed.
He then went on to say that people should no longer be “fooled” by demands for the Flag and Constitution, and he suggested that disagreements over the Framework Agreement must be addressed at the Prime Ministerial level. “Change can happen only at the Prime Ministerial level,” he reiterated.
Therie also accused the BJP and the NDPP of removing RN Ravi from the Governorship because he was “pressing for a solution.” According to Therie, the BJP and the NDPP had resolved in the State Assembly “to resume talks” despite the signing of two agreements. Therefore, he claimed that the recent mandate is not aimed at implementing political solutions.
