The Satoi Range GBs Association successfully held its 29th Biennial General Conference on November 26–27, 2024, at Tsutoho Village, Satoi Block. The conference, themed ”Unity Our Refuge,” featured G Kaito Aye, Minister of Roads and Bridges, Government of Nagaland, as the special guest on November 27, Media Cell, Satoi Range GBs Association said in a press release.
In his address, G Kaito Aye emphasized the importance of community participation in fostering development and stressed the need for quality workmanship in construction projects. He urged the GBs to actively contribute to community development by ensuring high standards of workmanship.
The minister firmly stated that he would not compromise on quality, particularly in road construction and other developmental initiatives in the region. He underscored that all projects must adhere to the specifications outlined in the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the greater benefit of the community.
On electoral politics, he remarked on the necessity of reform. He noted that many candidates from Satakha have been unfairly victimized by political dynamics and cautioned against pressuring or encouraging individuals to contest elections only to later subject them to undue criticism. He emphasized that elected representatives serve the people and should not represent only select groups. He appealed to the community to focus on collective development.
During the event, the Satoi Range GBs Association submitted a memorandum to the minister, highlighting the need for blacktopping road connectivity to the administrative headquarters at Satoi during his leadership tenure. The minister assured his best efforts to fulfill their demand and sought public cooperation.
The association also requested the establishment of a Nagaland Armed Police (NAP) company at Satoi HQ to ensure proper security in the region. They further urged the state government to demarcate the Satoi Block on a pocket/block-wise basis during the next review of the reservation policy, ensuring equitable distribution of reservation benefits among the backward tribes.
The minister responded that the reservation policy could only be reviewed after the latest census but assured that the concerns had been noted. Additionally, the association proposed opening a Nagaland Rural Bank at Satoi administrative headquarters to enhance administrative convenience and spur regional development.
