Kohima, 6 October (MTNews): The KAYAKALP Awards for the fiscal years 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 highlighted remarkable achievements in healthcare and sustainability. In a felicitation program held at the Health and Family Welfare Directorate Conference Hall in Kohima today, the KAYAKALP Best Eco-Friendly Award was presented to IMDH Mokokchung for FY 2021-2022 and to Tuensang District Hospital for FY 2022-23.
The event, graced by the presence of P Paiwang Konyak, Minister of Health & Family Welfare, celebrated the accomplishments of healthcare units in Nagaland. The KAYAKALP Program places a strong emphasis on promoting cleanliness, maintaining hygiene standards, enhancing the quality of care, and implementing rigorous infection control practices in hospitals.
Minister Konyak underscored the significance of KAYAKALP, an initiative under the National Health Mission launched by the Government of India, which aims to recognize and incentivize “Exemplary Performances” in public hospitals. He emphasized the esteemed status of doctors and nurses, often regarded as second gods and angels, and called on all healthcare professionals and the community to dedicate themselves to serving the people with utmost dedication and sacrifice.
During the program, Minister Konyak commended the efforts of 163 health units that were honored for their remarkable contributions to public health. He stressed the importance of continued collaboration between healthcare professionals and the community to enhance public health services, as health is a collective responsibility.
Among the 163 awardees, Dimapur secured the KAYAKALP Award for FY 2021-2022 in the DH (District Hospital) category, with Tuensang securing second place and Kiphire in third place. In the CHC (Community Health Center) category, Changtongya and Aboi claimed the top positions. Several PHCs (Primary Health Centers) received awards, including Kuhuboto, Chunlikha, Sitimi, Longkhim, Phomching, Athibung, Chetheba, Chare, Chukitong, and Suruhoto. In the HWC (Health and Wellness Center) category, Longkong, Mhaninamtsi, Sekruzu, Pongidong, Naga United, Singapore, and Tangha were recognized as the best Health and Wellness Centers. The Best Eco-Friendly Award was presented to IMDH Mokokchung for FY 2021-2022.
For the year 2022-2023, Tuensang Civil Hospital received the Best District Hospital Award, while Aboi was recognized as the Best CHC (Community Health Center), and numerous PHCs received accolades for their outstanding performance. Tuensang Civil Hospital also secured the Best Eco-Friendly DH award, while several hospitals, CHCs, PHCs, and HWC-SCs received commendation awards for their exceptional contributions. The Best Primary Health Centres were given to Chuchuyimlang, Tening, Ruzazho, Chunglikha, Changlangshu, Akuluto , Pherima, Likhimro, Nyiro, and Chessore. Mopungchuket Health and Wellness Centre was awarded the best Health and Wellness Centre in the state.
Drug Control Administration cum Nagaland Drug Laboratory office inaugurated
Earlier in the day, Minister Konyak inaugurated the new administrative office building of the Drugs Control Administration and Nagaland Drug Laboratory.
Additional Drug Controller, Controlling & Licensing Authority, Health department, WH Patton said the office building was constructed under the Central Government Scheme of “Strengthening of State Drug Regulatory System.” He informed that the 1st Phase of the project which includes the infrastructure of the Nagaland Drug Laboratory started in the year 2020 and completed in September 2023. The 2nd Phase of the project will be for the establishment of the Nagaland Drug Laboratory which is under active consideration of the Ministry for approval.
The Laboratory on establishment will have a capacity to test 1000 samples per annum. It will help in control of sub-standard medicines in the State and also assure quality medicines to the general public.
