Kazüküptok, a name synonymous with wit and comedy, is a group of 7 enthusiastic young people from Mongsenyimti Village, Mokokchung. Ever since their debut on YouTube on September 20, 2021, the group have marked their presence on the social media platform with a massive following of more than 25k subscribers. Mokokchung Times have had the privilege to meet and interact with the group for an exclusive interview.

The Covid-19 pandemic lockdown has been a blessing in disguise for many a people to explore their potential and creativity, and this group proved it right. Under their dynamic and visionary leader/mentor, Mr. Imotemjen, Music Director of Mongsenyimti Baptist Church, the group came up with the brilliant idea to utilize their ‘lockdown’ leisure time and make videos instead of wasting it away. Mr. Imotemjen says that it was his dream and passion to revive the trademark identity of the village, which is comedy. The group aims to maintain the authenticity of this aforementioned identity in the usage of their language, props and story setting while coming up with the different storylines.

On being enquired about their fans’ reactions to their videos, they assured that they are humbled and grateful for the massive support they receive. They also make sure to take every genuine comment seriously and to work on them.

Value your mother tongue with a view of 3 lakhs, and counting, is perhaps one of their most successful videos so far, and it’s a message that hits home well.

Azümesen Sensaker’, which have been produced in four parts so far, is a relatable tale for everyone. The makers have assured that the story is far from being over. Perhaps, the all-too-familiar storyline of a lazy bum seeking easy money is something we are all plagued with, in one way or the other.

One interesting thing to note about the team is that, apart from taking inspiration from their everyday lives, they have advisors in different places, other than the vicinity of the village whose immense support and contribution make them what they are today.

The message they have for the readers of Mokokchung Times is – believe in one’s passion and follow them through. It is important to stay consistent no matter the challenges you encounter.
The long hours of time investment and the effort they put in making a video doesn’t add up to what they earn from YouTube, but they still do it because they are privileged to be where they are. It is important to discover one’s talent and make it productive for the society because people only believe it when they see it.

Apart from comedy, the group is also keen on taking up social issues in the future. They are also open to collaborations and, if offered, is willing to do advertisements. They also do stand-up comedy gigs in and around the area.
