Popular American fast food restaurant chain KFC, known for its fried chicken, opened in Mokokchung on July 30. This marks the tenth and newest KFC franchise in Nagaland and the first in Mokokchung.
KFC Mokokchung was formally inaugurated by the Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung, Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS.
The two-storey Kentucky Fried Chicken outlet is located on Imnameren Road, near the main India Post Office, Mokokchung.
With 10 operational outlets, Nagaland ranks second in the Northeast after Assam in terms of the number of KFC franchises, out of a total of 58 across the region.
Sanjit Mandal, Area Coach of KFC, said the company currently operates in Dimapur, where the first outlet was opened in 2002 near City Tower, as well as in Kohima, Chümoukedima, and now Mokokchung. He added that proposals for franchises in Mon and Wokha are in consideration but not yet confirmed.
Mandal stated that KFC Mokokchung will be open from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM on all days except Sundays. Along with dine-in service with a seating capacity of 94 and takeaway options, he said that home delivery service will be introduced soon. Eleven staff members have been employed at the new outlet, all of whom are locals.
He also noted the “potential” for good footfall, with customers visiting the outlet even before its official opening. He expressed satisfaction with the turnout on the first day of operations.
