Mokokchung, October 21 (MTNews): Kichutip Ward under Mokokchung Town celebrated its Silver Jubilee under the theme, “Unflinching Unanimity” at Arok Salang, Kichutip Ward on Friday with Metsübo Jamir, Minister of Rural Development gracing the occasion as the guest of honour. Kichutip ward was formed in the year 1997 after bifurcating Aongza Ward.
Metsübo Jamir during his speech at the jubilee acknowledged the founders of the ward and stated that 25 years of the ward’s existence was because of the works of the Ward people and blessing of God.
He went on to say that in the future, many individuals and families will want to live in the ward, so he asked the Ward to embrace their willingness to live there, noting that via a person, one can learn a lot about cultures, customs, and information.
Jamir went on to say that the Jubilee is a time to forgive others and sanctify oneself, and that with the Golden Jubilee coming up in the next 25 years, everyone should live their lives with dignity and honour, leaving a legacy for future generations.
Chumlamo Humtsoe, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung, and MMC administrator, also greeted the gathering with a brief message, wherein he stated that Kichutip Ward has been a pioneering Ward, citing an example from 2017 when the Ward was the first to avail a sanitation vehicle proffered by the administration for collecting door to door waste.
He went on to urge Ward members to be selfless leaders, saying that while service to the public is voluntary, it is rewarded with showers of blessings.
As an MMC Administrator, he requested participation from the Ward members to start making compost pits to produce manure whilst it will also reduce wet waste. He further urged to take up rain water harvesting. He said that Mokokchung being located in a hilly terrain has been facing depleting ground water sources, and added the citizens should take up rain water harvesting at a mass scale and construct ground water recharge pits to replenish the water sources.
During the occasion, Imtimeren, the first Secretary of Kichutip Ward; Limanungsang, President of All Ward Union Mokokchung Town; R. Longritemjen Ao, Chairman of Aongza Ward Yimden; and L. Mapu Longkumer, Chairman, Mokokchung Village Council delivered short speeches while Imkongyanger, Chairman, Kichutip Ward presented the welcome address.
A Jubilee Souvenir book was also released by the guest of honour as part of the celebration.
