The Kikrüma Association Kohima celebrated its Golden Jubilee on December 20 at the Capital Cultural Hall, Kohima, marking 50 years of the association’s service to the community. Members, elders and invited guests attended the programme, which reflected on the association’s journey and future direction.

Kohima Village Council chairman Helievio Solo graced the occasion as the special guest. Congratulating the association on completing five decades, he commended its members for carrying forward the discipline, unity and community spirit of Kikrüma village while living responsibly and peacefully with others in Kohima. Referring to the long-standing relationship between Kohima village and Kikrüma village, Solo stressed the importance of strengthening this bond for future generations. He said their forefathers had laid a strong foundation of friendship that must be upheld to promote societal well-being and the common good. He also suggested initiating cultural or youth exchange programmes to further strengthen ties between the two villages.
Former Nagaland Legislative Assembly Speaker Thenucho Tunyi, in his greetings, urged the people of Kikrüma to be broad-minded and explore employment opportunities beyond the state, noting that government jobs in Nagaland have largely reached saturation. Encouraging resilience, he called on individuals to face challenges with determination and urged officers to remain sincere and diligent in serving the people.
In his presidential address, KAK president Povezo Puro said the theme for the coming decade could focus on preparing members for future challenges while honouring the legacy of the association’s founders. He expressed hope that KAK would continue to serve as a platform of harmony and cultural connection.
A brief history of the association was presented by former Nagaland Public Service Commission chairman Kühüpoyo Puro. The KAK souvenir was released by Kürethi Vero, the eldest member of the association, who also pronounced a blessing.
New office bearers for the 2025 to 2027 tenure were announced, with Potsutso Thira elected as president and Velüta Kezo as general secretary. The programme featured choir presentations, folk dances and the felicitation of Vevotolü Kezo, the first IAS officer from Kikrüma, and Besusayo Kezo, the first IPS officer from the village.
