The cricket tournament commemorating the silver jubilee celebration of the Kiphire District Cricket Association (KDCA) began today at the Public Ground, Kiphire, with the theme “Honoring Yesteryears.”

In his welcome address, Justin Khatomong, President of KDCA, expressed gratitude to all pioneers and officials who contributed to KDCA’s success. He provided a brief history of the association and its accomplishments over the last 25 years.

Takatemjen Pongen, EAC, Kiphire, declared the cricket tournament open in commemoration of the silver jubilee celebration of the Kiphire District Cricket Association (KDCA) on Tuesday, 24 September at Public Ground Kiphire.

The keynote speaker, Takatemjen Pongen, NCS, EAC Kiphire HQ, emphasized the role of cricket in uniting people and fostering values such as discipline and teamwork. He urged for the development of sports infrastructure and greater inclusivity, calling for more opportunities for youth, women, and people with disabilities.

The event, chaired by Hopila S Sangtam, began with an invocation led by Bhim Sapkota, Pastor of Nepali Baptist Church, Kiphire.

The cricket matches brought excitement to the event. In the first match, Saramati Nexus scored 158 runs for the loss of 9 wickets, while Kiphire Super Kings were all out for 80 runs.

In the second match, Kiphire Knight Riders claimed victory by scoring 151 runs for the loss of 7 wickets, successfully defending their score against Abide Club, who managed 149 runs for the loss of 9 wickets.
