Gorkha Baptist Church, Kiphire observed Cultural Day on December 21 with a programme that focused on the relationship between faith, culture and shared values. Members of the congregation took part in the event, which was organised to highlight unity and mutual understanding within the church community.
The programme began with the reading of a Bible verse from Galatians by chairperson Sonu Chhetri, followed by an introduction outlining the purpose of the observance. Joel Chhetri led the invocation prayer, while Kusum Khadka read a passage from the Bible, setting a reflective tone for the gathering.
A short address on the significance of Cultural Day was delivered by Biru Thulung, who said culture extends beyond traditional dress and food and is reflected in values, character and conduct within a community. The spiritual segment included a special song by the Youth Department and a duet performance by Vidya and her friend. The offertory and sanctification prayer were led by Sunita Chhetri, Deaconess.
Pastor Dr Bhim Sapkota delivered the main message, emphasising that believers are united in Christ beyond distinctions of tribe or background. Referring to biblical teachings, he said pride can lead to division, while humility and faith help cultural diversity become a source of harmony.
The programme also featured a cultural display by Anna Sapkota and her friend. The event concluded with a hymn, benediction, a photo session and fellowship over refreshments.
