The special guest, Tsidongchem, Chairman of the Kiphire Village Council, stressed the importance of preserving cultural identity among children and young people. He said rapid globalisation and widespread internet access have exposed younger generations to outside cultures, making it vital to consciously pass on traditional knowledge and wisdom. He urged the community to learn from elders while the opportunity remains.

Moses Newmai, District Cultural Officer of Kiphire, explained the objectives of the Living Morung and Traditional Knowledge initiative. He said the state government is committed to protecting and promoting the cultural heritage of all districts in Nagaland and assured cooperation with local communities for cultural conservation. Tsalimong, Head Gaon Bura of Kiphire Village, shared a folktale highlighting local traditions.

An intensive craft workshop for men was conducted by Thsaopi Sangtam, while Suzila Sangtam led a traditional weaving session for women. Cultural performances included a folk song by women from Kiphire Village and a folk dance by women from Longthonger Village. Many youths actively participated in learning traditional skills.

Organisers said the next phase of the project will be held in two more villages in Kiphire district before the end of February.
