The Working Committee of the Naga National Political Groups (WC-NNPGs), led by Convener N Kitovo Zhimomi along with all Co-conveners, held a meeting with AK Mishra, the Government of India’s (GOI) representative, in Dimapur on the evening of February 19, 2025.

In a press release, the media cell of the WC expressed appreciation for Mishra’s visit, stating that the Committee “acknowledged AK Mishra for his visit to expedite the long-anticipated Indo-Naga political solution.”

During the discussions, the Working Committee emphasized the necessity of “establishing and reconfiguring a unified common platform that facilitates the participation of all Naga Political Groups, Civil societies, and relevant stakeholders.” According to the WC, this initiative must align with the “principles outlined in the Agreed Position and Framework Agreement,” as they believe these are “the only viable pathway toward inking and finalizing the agreement beyond which will be difficult.”

The WC reiterated its commitment to the “hard-earned ‘Agreed Position’” and pledged to protect and sacrifice for it “at any cost.” However, recognizing the urgent need for unity among Naga Political Groups, regardless of party or affiliations, the WC expressed willingness to go a step further. It stated they were “even ready to go up to the extent of changing its nomenclature from WC/NNPGs to any suitable names.”

The WC explained that this flexibility stems from the understanding that “the duties of the WC had been completed when the Agreed Position was signed with the GOI on 17 November 2017 and subsequently completed the negotiations on 31st October 2019.” The WC clarified that their intention was “to accommodate all Naga Political Groups on board, who may not be a part of any agreement or non-agreement.”

The Working Committee also formally requested the Government of India to “bring out a common draft by compiling both the Agreements which have been established and reached between the Government of India and the Naga Political Groups.”
