In a spectacular and tense final match played between Dimapur and Mon, Dimapur awed the people with their phenomenal performance once again as they finally lifted the coveted Dr T Ao Trophy!
Dimapur ended this tournament without conceding even a single goal throughout and with a record of zero loses and draws but only wins. They are the champs of the champs.
A team with discipline, classy players and a team that plays absolutely beautiful football, mentored by an illustrious coach, have deservingly lifted the trophy.
Thanks to their four incredible players in the back and goalkeeper Homuka Yeptho who were responsible for maintaining a straight clean sheet for the entire tournament.
Defender Benrithung had his most terrific game today as he made brilliant clearances and crucial tackles till the last minute as Mon forwards pressed them dangerously.
The first half saw complete domination from Dimapur with Kiba, Kakhevi and Pursunep, having a spectacular day on the ground in front of thousands of spectators.
In the 59th minute, a cross from Hekato to right winger Kakhevi passed a beautiful ball to Toka and then to Kivi Zhimomi who broke the deadlock, making Kivi’s first and last goal of the tournament.

The forwards Kakhevi-Pursunep duo had been phenomenal from the very first match in terms of speed, accuracy and precision and they lived up to the expectation till the last minute.
Mon, on the other hand, came back better in the second half but Dimapur’s defense was just too strong to be sliced. Mon pressed the Dimapur back in the second half but not as aggressive as they did against Tseminyu. We missed a Mon that was dying to lift the trophy this evening.
In the 84th minute, Kakhevi Assumi once again penetrated through Mon’s defense with deft skill and doubled the lead. And that sealed the deal. Dimapur is the ultimate champion, their third title overall.
However, Mon created history by making it to the final for the first time. They may have lost the game but they have won thousands of hearts. The Mon team and their passionate fans shall remain one of the most memorable picks of the tournament.
