In the wee hours of Saturday, at about 2:45 am, around 50 shops were engulfed in flames after a massive fire broke out in Peraciezie, High School Colony, Kohima, 9 September. Two main markets and an adjoining commercial building near Vishal Mega Mart were consumed by the fire, destroying goods worth crores of rupees, sources said. “Residents reported that the fire service arrived at approximately 3:15 am after they placed a call at about 3:00 am. The fire was reportedly doused off at about 5:00 am.
The fire is suspected to have been caused by a short circuit. No injuries or casualties have been reported so far.
