Lend A Hand India, under the special pilot project of LIC Housing Finance Limited (LIC-HFL) CSR, successfully conducted the second Training of Trainers (ToT) on “Operationalizing Multi-Sector Skill Education in Grade 9 and 10 students aligned to the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2023.”

ToT workshop for vocational teachers
The training was hosted at St. Paul School, Phesama, Kohima, from 9th to 12th September 2025 with the support of Samagra Shiksha Nagaland.

As part of the multi-sector approach, the ToT covered three distinct modules in Fashion, Coding, and Healthcare. Expert trainers from Lend A Hand India facilitated the sessions, providing hands-on practical training for the first three days. On the final day, a special session on pedagogy, lesson planning, and assessments was conducted to strengthen classroom teaching practices in vocational education.

The program brought together 30 vocational trainers and subject teachers from 21 government schools and 5 private schools, representing five districts: Kohima, Dimapur, Mokokchung, Kiphire and Peren. Participants gained in-depth knowledge and practical strategies to effectively implement skill-based modules in their classrooms.

Representatives from the Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) were present throughout the four-day program. Their participation provided valuable insights into the pilot curriculum and reinforced collaborative efforts to integrate skill education into mainstream schooling.

On the final day, Academic Officer of NBSE, Shri Dziesevolie Tsurho, addressed the gathering. He highlighted the importance of equipping students with skills to address unemployment challenges. He spoke about the evolving landscape of education, noting that NEP 2020 and NCF 2023 emphasize both skilling and a multi-disciplinary approach. He urged teachers to equip themselves with multiple skills in order to deliver quality education effectively. He also encouraged participants to view themselves as future assets to the education system, emphasizing that their expertise will be in high demand once reforms in vocational education are fully rolled out. Concluding his address, he urged them to become brand ambassadors for skilling in Nagaland.

The valedictory session was attended by Dr. Chumbeni Kikon, Joint Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha Nagaland, along with Academic Officer NBSE, Shri Dziesevolie Tsurho, and Father Charles D’Souza, Headmaster of St. Paul School. Certificates were presented to all participants.

With institutional backing and the partnership of LIC-HFL, this initiative marks an important milestone in connecting academics with hands-on skills. The program aims to empower teachers to foster holistic, future-ready learning opportunities for students across Nagaland.
