Kohima District successfully defended its title as champions in the women’s team event, while Mon emerged as the champions in the men’s team event as the team events in the ongoing 26th Nagaland Inter-District & State Table Tennis Championship 2023 concluded on Wednesday evening at the Multi-purpose Sports Complex, Mokokchung.

In the women’s team event, Kohima secured victory in the final match with a flawless 3 straight-set wins against Niuland. The women’s category featured a total of five teams, including Kohima, Niuland, Mokokchung, Tuensang, and Dimapur. A total of 25 matches were played in this category, including the final. The five teams in the women’s category competed in a Super League format.

In the Men’s team event, Mon emerged as champions after a highly competitive final match against Kohima. Mon secured victory in the match, winning the last decisive set in a best-of-five format.

The men’s team event witnessed a total of 96 matches in 3 days among the 14 participating teams.

In the semifinals, Mon outperformed the defending champions, Chümoukedima, while Kohima defeated Phek to secure their spots in the finals.

The 14 men’s teams that participated in this year’s championship include Mokokchung, Longleng, Mon, Kiphire, Phek, Tuensang, Shamator, Zunheboto, Wokha, Kohima, Dimapur, Niuland, Tseminyu, and Chümoukedima.

Matches in various categories under the State Open category are currently underway at the Multi-purpose Sports Complex.

The 26th Nagaland Inter-District & State Table Tennis Championship 2023, hosted by the Mokokchung District Table Tennis Association (MDTTA) under the aegis of the Nagaland Table Tennis Association (NTTA), is set to conclude on Thursday, 26 October.
