The Gauhati High Court, Kohima Bench, on Wednesday launched the GHCKB mobile application, becoming the first High Court in the Northeast to roll out an in-house justice-delivery app aimed at improving transparency and accessibility for citizens.
Launching the app at the Kohima Bench, Chief Justice Ashutosh Kumar said the initiative would “bring the court closer to the public,” offering real-time case tracking, cause lists, orders, live-streaming links, and updates that can be accessed even from remote areas. He said the success of the system now depends on “regular use by the Bar and litigants,” stressing that technology becomes meaningful only when actively adopted.
Registrar Ajongba Imchen described the launch as a “momentous step” linking the Bench, Bar and litigants on a single digital platform. The Joint Registrar (Judicial) & CPC eCourts Project, B Peter Resu, noted that the app responds to frequent public difficulties in accessing judgments and court information, and highlighted that 95.22% of India’s internet users rely on mobile devices, making apps essential for public services.
Developed entirely by the Kohima Bench ICT team, the GHCKB App is now available on the Google Play Store, with an iOS version to follow. A video demonstration presented features including daily cause lists, real-time case status, court display boards, notice board, links to district courts, and a WhatsApp channel for updates.
