The Kohima Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has voiced strong condemnation and shock following the recent death threat issued against K Rülho, the proprietor of KKB Rülho, by the NSCN/GPRN-K (Khango).

The KCCI has expressed that this threat has deeply “enraged and traumatized” the local business community, highlighting a troubling pattern of harassment. Over the years, the business sector has been one of the few groups to contribute financially to support the activities of various Naga Political Groups (NPGs).

“However, instead of acknowledging the contributions the business community has been made to bear the brunt of uncountable harassments, intimidations, physical assaults and death threats from the multitudes of the NPG’s indulgence in forms of unabated taxations, periodical collections and day to day demands,” the KCCI stated.

The KCCI warned that the present trend of squeezing monetary resources from the business community, contractors & suppliers, public servants, public etc., will be counterproductive in the long run and could severely damage both the Naga National Movement and the fabric of Naga society.

In response, the KCCI has requested all the NPGs not to resort to taking arbitrary decisions which imperils the physical well beings of the individual or parties. They specifically appealed to the NSCN/GPRN (Khango) to immediately revoke the death threat against Mr. Rülho at the earliest.

Additionally, the KCCI has pledged co-operation and support to the Angami Youth Organization (AYO) in their efforts to organize a public rally aimed at protesting “unabated illegal taxations, harassments, intimidations, and death threats to common people.”

The rally is scheduled to take place at Old MLA Hostel Junction in Kohima on August 6, 2024, at 11:00 AM. The KCCI has urged all members of the business community to close their shops and business establishments during the rally to show solidarity and support for this cause.
