Kohima: CM Rio declares ‘Music as an Industry’ in Nagaland at Asian Music Summit

Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio declared that Nagaland has recognized music as an industry, showcasing the state’s commitment to fostering artistic endeavors. The Chief Minister highlighted these efforts during the commencement of the 4th edition of the Asian Music Summit at the Capital Cultural Hall in Kohima on Thursday.


Expressing the government’s dedication to the promotion of music and arts, Chief Minister Rio stated, “My government has been making sincere efforts in promoting music and arts and has declared ‘Music as an industry’ within the state.”

The Asian Music Summit, now in its 4th edition, aims to provide a global platform, where the exchange and birth of ideas, and concepts will be fostered, to create exciting new partnerships within Asia and the rest of the world. Chief Minister Rio emphasized that these musicians and artists play a crucial role in projecting ‘Brand Nagaland’ and ‘Naga Soft Power’ both nationally and globally.
“Today, our musicians and artistes have become national and global ambassadors. They are promoting Brand Nagaland and Naga Soft Power,” he said.

Chief Minister Rio further shared exciting details about the summit, revealing, “More than 20 bands, dozens of musicians, and renowned artistes will be showcased during the Summit. We are particularly pleased that talented musicians from Nagaland will be performing for an exclusive audience comprising captains of the music industry from around the world.”

Rio also extended gratitude, saying, “I thank MusiConnect Asia and all its board members led by Founder President, Mr Kaushik Dutta, for having confidence in our youth and collaborating with Nagaland for this Summit. Through this network, I hope that our musicians will be propelled to greater heights.”

Asia Music Summit (AMS) is an initiative of Music Connect Asia and is co-organized by Task Force for Music and Arts (TaFMA) – Government of Nagaland.
