Kohima, 11 September (MTNews): In the aftermath of the devastating fire that engulfed Peraciezie High School Colony in Kohima on 9 September leaving a trail of destruction, the Kohima District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) sprang into action to provide essential support and relief to the affected community.

The fire, which resulted in the complete destruction of AV Market, Suokhrie Market, and several residential houses, with partial damage to nearby commercial buildings, left approximately 113 commercial shops in ruins. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
According to a DIPR report, a commendable display of solidarity and immediate response was received from local authorities. Following the on-site assessments conducted by the DDMA to gauge the extent of the damage, the organization extended helping hand to the affected house owners and displaced families.
Seven fire tenders from various fire stations and agencies were promptly deployed to combat the fierce blaze and bring the situation under control. The firefighting efforts received a coordinated response from multiple line departments and organizations, including the Fire and Emergency Services, District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Kohima Municipal Council, District Administration, 1st Assam Rifles, D’ Block, Peraciezie Traders Union, Kohima Village Youth Organization, and other local entities.
