Kohima DLSA launches two-day Special Aadhaar Registration Drive under SAATHI
In his inaugural speech, he highlighted the SAATHI campaign (Identity and Dignity), an initiative of the National Legal Services Authority. He emphasised that the campaign, launched in 2025, aims to provide legal identities, such as Aadhaar cards, to destitute children and connect them with essential services like education, healthcare, and welfare schemes, thereby restoring their dignity. He encouraged the Kohima DLSA to extend the campaign to Tseminyu as well, enabling the most vulnerable persons to benefit free of cost. He noted that the special drive was initiated for public welfare, citing the overwhelming public response for Aadhaar registration during the Mega Legal Camp held by the Nagaland State Legal Services Authority in April 2025.

B Henok Buchem, Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, also addressed the gathering, underscoring the importance of Aadhaar cards in accessing government benefits such as the CMHIS scheme. He urged attendees to take advantage of the registration drive and encouraged the KDLSA to carry out legal awareness programmes not only to inform people of their rights but also to highlight their duties and responsibilities as citizens.

The welcome address was delivered by Mezivolu T Therieh, Principal District and Sessions Judge and Chairperson of Kohima DLSA, who also highlighted the constitutional validity of Aadhaar and its importance. The program was chaired by Nagali Shohe, Panel Lawyer, Kohima DLSA. Around 220 beneficiaries availed themselves of the services on the first day.
