Kohima, 18 May (MTNews): Kohima Law College recently conducted a series of moot court sessions as part of the LL.B final year curriculum, adhering to the syllabus outlined by Nagaland University. The sessions, overseen by Assistant Professor Kezhokhoto Savi, focused on three distinct areas: civil law, election law, and criminal law, with each session exploring hypothetical cases.

Professor Savi emphasized the importance of integrity, hard work, and honesty as fundamental pillars for success in the legal profession. He underscored the significance of moot court exercises in equipping law students with essential skills required for their future careers.

“Moot court sessions provide students with valuable opportunities to gain practical knowledge of legal language, speaking skills, courtroom demeanor, and critical thinking,” stated Professor Savi. He highlighted that participation in moot court exercises instills confidence in students, preparing them for real-world legal practice.

The recent sessions saw a total of 62 students, divided into two groups of 31 each, engaging in rigorous argumentation on various points of law. Participants were tasked with developing argumentative skills and mastering the preparation and presentation of legal documents, under the guidance of experienced faculty members.

Moot court sessions, recognized as an integral component of legal education, play a crucial role in developing the professional competence of aspiring lawyers. These sessions are aligned with the Practical Papers prescribed by the Bar Council of India, contributing significantly to the holistic learning experience of law students.
