District Magistrate of Kohima, B Henok Buchem, has withdrawn prohibitory orders imposed under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, in the designated security zone covering Lok Bhavan and adjoining areas.
The restrictions, imposed on October 27 to regulate unauthorised assemblies, processions and gatherings, were lifted through an order issued on October 29 following a review of the law and order situation.
According to the order, security agencies reported that public peace and normalcy had been restored, making the preventive restrictions unnecessary. All restrictions on public movement, assemblies and activities within the specified area have accordingly been rescinded with immediate effect.
