Event held under the theme “Future-ready reasoning” highlights the Lotha community’s vision for progress rooted in tradition and unity

The Kohima Lotha Hoho celebrated its Golden Jubilee with grandeur and cultural vibrancy, coinciding with Tokhü Emong, the premier festival of the Lotha community, under the theme ”Future-ready reasoning” at the NBCC Convention Centre, Kohima, on November 7, 2025. The landmark occasion brought together tribal leaders, elders, youth, and well-wishers from across districts, reflecting a strong spirit of unity, pride, and community progress.

Delivering the Chief Guest’s address, Chief Minister Dr Neiphiu Rio congratulated the Kohima Lotha Hoho on achieving the 50-year milestone and commended the organizers for hosting an event that united Lothas from various districts along with leaders from other tribes. He described the celebration as an exemplary display of solidarity and inter-tribal harmony.

Highlighting the richness of Lotha heritage, Dr. Rio underscored the importance of preserving and passing down traditional knowledge and values to future generations. Referring to Wokha district as a land “rich in beauty, resources, resilience and potential,” he said the Lotha community continues to stand out in per capita income and human development indicators.

The Chief Minister lauded the community’s hardworking and innovative spirit, calling it an inspiration to others. He expressed hope for enduring peace and encouraged the people to channel their collective energy and resources toward constructive and meaningful pursuits.

Deputy Chief Minister for Home and Border Affairs Yanthungo Patton, who graced the event as Guest of Honour, extended warm greetings to the Lotha community. Urging the youth to pursue knowledge and excellence, he advised them to rise above divisive “isms” and work for unity, forgiveness, and harmony for the progress of Nagaland. Patton also noted the special significance of celebrating the Golden Jubilee alongside Tokhü Emong and expressed gratitude for the community’s continued support to the state government.

During the program, Chief Minister Dr Neiphiu Rio officially launched a book titled ”The Divine in the Ordinary” authored by Sentienla P Ezung. Other highlights included a special song ”A Lotha” presented by Eyilobeni Kikon, a theme song by the Jubilee Choir, and a cultural dance by the Lotsu Village Cultural Troupe.

Short speeches were also delivered by representatives from Lotha Hoho Oking, Lotha Officers’ Association Kohima, and Lotha Ekhie Ekhung. The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Minister for Women Resource Development and Horticulture Salhoutuonuo Kruse, Advisor for School Education and SCERT Dr Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, Advisor for Agriculture Mhathung Yanthan, Dr. Chumben Murry, Advisors Y Mhonbemo Humtsoe and Er Kropol Vitsu, MLAs Achumbemo Kikon and others, along with church and tribal leaders.
