Cultural revival and youth empowerment take center stage

The Kohima Lotha Hoho (KLH) convened its general meeting at the Capital Convention Centre on October 4, 2024, bringing together key leaders and members to discuss the future of the Lotha community in particular and the upliftment of Naga society in general. The event featured MLA and Chairman of the SDPDB, Achumbemo Kikon, as the special guest, who emphasized the need to preserve culture and tradition through the active use of one’s mother tongue.

In his address, Kikon underscored that true progress begins with safeguarding cultural identity and called upon the Lotha community to remain united and work collectively for the upliftment of Naga society as a whole. He further stressed the need for reform, starting with the electoral system, pointing out that a more transparent and just election process is essential for societal growth.

Exhorting the gathering, Secretary for Youth Resources & Sports, Anthony Ngullie, spoke at the meeting, urging the community to reflect on their roles in society, as the actions of today’s leaders will shape the values and aspirations of younger generations. Ngullie reminded the gathering that the younger generation looks up to them for guidance and leadership, and their conduct will influence the society of tomorrow.

The meeting commenced with a welcome address by KLH Chairman KN Mhonthung Lotha, setting a positive and inspiring tone for the discussions. A special prayer was offered by Rev Dr K Benry Lotha for the successful candidates of the recent NPSC and NSSB exams, blessing them for their future endeavors.

During the meeting, the General Secretary’s Report was presented by S Chonbemo Lotha, the Audit Committee Report by Convenor Khyochamo Tungoe, and the Treasurer’s Report by L Yanremo Mozhui.

The session concluded with a closing prayer pronounced by Khonbemo Ngullie, leaving attendees with a renewed sense of purpose and unity.
