The Action Committee of the New Minister’s Hill Panchayat Ward-16, Kohima has announced a series of proactive measures aimed at enhancing community cooperation and improving the overall quality of life and safety for residents.

In a press release, the Panchayat highlighted plans to implement 24-hour roster duty, especially focused on the View Point area. This will include regular monitoring to curb alcohol consumption in public spaces and organized cleanliness drives throughout the colony.

The Panchayat expressed satisfaction that public alcohol use has been largely minimized thanks to community cooperation. However, it regretted that a few individuals continue to cause disturbances, particularly due to intoxication late at night.

As such, the Panchayat issued a “stern and stringent action” against individuals involved in drunk driving, violence, and other illegal activities stemming from alcohol abuse,” the release stated. It also mentioned that vehicle details linked to such incidents will be made public in local newspapers and social media platforms.

With final examinations approaching, the Panchayat appealed to residents to avoid any public disturbances during this crucial period. The release warned, “Any individual or groups failing to adhere to this notice shall face consequences, and the Panchayat shall take its own course of action against any defaulters.”
