Kohima, 9 August (MTNews): The Election Commission of the Kohima Press Club (KPC) has unveiled the election schedule for the impending bye-election to elect a new General Secretary for the remaining term of the incumbent KPC officials serving from 2022 to 2025. This bye-election, mandated by Article VIII(3) of the KPC Constitution, aims to fill the vacant position left by the resignation of the former General Secretary, Atono Tsükrü Kense.

 

Candidates interested in contesting for the position have been invited to file their nominations from 14-20 August 20, 2023, during the hours of 10 AM to 5 PM. Nominations can be submitted to any of the commission members designated for this purpose. The scrutiny of nomination documents will take place on August 21, ensuring that all candidates meet the necessary criteria for participation. The final date for the withdrawal of candidature is set for August 22.

 

The election is scheduled to be held on August 23, 2023, commencing at 1 PM and concluding at 3 PM and the results shall be announced on the same day.

 

“It should be noted that this by-election has been necessitated due to the resignation of the incumbent KPC General Secretary, Atono Tsükrü Kense, which was duly accepted during the General Body Meeting held on the 27th of July 2023,” the KPC stated.
