The Regional Transport Authority, Kohima has constituted a task force to study the issue of phasing out unfit commercial taxis and city buses. This, along with a range of transport-related issues, were discussed and resolved at the Regional Transport Authority, Kohima meeting held at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima on 12 July 2024. The meeting was presided over by Deputy Commissioner Kohima, Kumar Ramnikant, IAS.
A rationalization exercise regarding fares of commercial vehicles was also approved.
Other critical issues discussed included the fitness of school buses for the safety of school children, relocation of food carts/night bazaars, enforcement of no-parking zones, and a comprehensive review of Kohima’s overall traffic situation. A follow-up review meeting is scheduled for the month of August.
The meeting was attended by the Administrator, Kohima Municipal Council; SDO (Civil) TPT; Additional SP, Traffic & Protocol; EAC ???; DSP, Traffic; and Regional Transport Officer, Kohima & Member Secretary and KSCDL officials.
