Kohima TMGHSS marks World Youth Skills Day with student skill exhibition

Senior officials from the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Samagra Shiksha Nagaland, the Directorate of School Education and Lend A Hand India attended the programme. They visited the exhibition stalls, interacted with students and appreciated their practical learning achievements.

Welcoming the gathering, vocational trainer Rongsentoshi outlined the objectives of the exhibition. Principal Kelhikha Kenye highlighted the importance of vocational education in equipping students with employable skills, fostering entrepreneurship and promoting lifelong learning.

He encouraged students to embrace hands-on learning and continue nurturing innovation and creativity alongside their academic studies.

The exhibition featured a variety of student-developed projects, including a sunlight sensor street light, an automatic room light controller, an earthquake detector, a biogas plant, a drip irrigation system, a buzz wire game, a vegetable chopper, agricultural nursery displays, renewable energy models, electrical products and homemade cookies.

Observed annually on July 15, World Youth Skills Day highlights the importance of equipping young people with skills for employment, entrepreneurship and sustainable livelihoods.

The programme concluded with participants reaffirming the importance of skill-based education in preparing students to become confident, innovative and future-ready citizens.
