An upgraded Multi-Skill and Electronics Laboratory was inaugurated today at Thinuovicha Memorial Government Higher Secondary School, Kohima. The project was implemented by Lend A Hand India in collaboration with Samagra Shiksha, Nagaland, and funded through the CSR initiative of LIC Housing Finance Ltd. The effort is in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2023 to strengthen vocational education in Nagaland.
The inaugural program featured Dr Vitsosie Vüprü, Principal of Kohima College, Kohima, as the chief guest. He was joined by Dr Chumbeni Kikon Neikha, Principal of the host school and Joint Mission Director of Samagra Shiksha, Nagaland, along with senior officials, coordinators, and school staff.
Delivering the keynote address, Dr Vüprü remarked, ”Vocational education is essential for preparing our students with practical skills and confidence. These upgraded labs will not only enrich learning but also empower students to take up future careers with competence and self-reliance.”
As part of the program, instructors from Lend A Hand India, Metsuryi Tetseo and Mr. Rongsentoshi Ozukum, conducted a guided tour of the upgraded facilities, demonstrating the use of equipment and explaining the vocational curriculum. Students also presented two live practicals — making an extension board and demonstrating a parallel electrical connection — which were well received by the attendees.
The event was chaired by Richard Asoso, Assistant Manager at Lend A Hand India, who underlined the collaborative effort of Lend A Hand India, Samagra Shiksha, and LIC-HFL in advancing skill-based education in the state.
The program concluded with an expression of gratitude and a reaffirmation of the commitment to “Building a Skilled Tomorrow” by integrating practical, skill-oriented education into mainstream learning.
