Following days of continuous rainfall, Zenuobadze Colony, one of the seven colonies under Ward 1, Kohima, experienced severe waterlogging, with several areas affected by minor flooding. The rising water levels caused inconvenience to residents and disrupted daily movement.

Kohima Ward 1 Councillor leads emergency drainage-clearing drive after heavy rain

Responding to the situation, Ward 1 Councillor Kelhousenuo Khruomo organised a voluntary drainage-clearing drive to restore the flow of water and reduce flooding.

The Zenuobadze Council, the Women Organisation and local youth joined the councillor in clearing blocked drains and choked water channels.

The coordinated effort helped improve drainage and ease waterlogging in the affected areas.

As the monsoon season continues, residents and community leaders have stressed the importance of regular maintenance of drains and continued community participation to minimise flooding and ensure public safety.
