The Konyak Students’ Union (KSU) has ordered its Federating Units, especially those in Tizit Area and Naginimora Area, to deploy 100 volunteers daily at Namsa Gate and Naginimora Gate to monitor the entry of non-locals into Mon district.

Volunteers stationed at these key checkpoints have been tasked with verifying whether incoming individuals possess a valid Inner Line Permit (ILP) and proper documentation. According to the KSU, “anyone found without valid documentation must be deported immediately from Mon district.”

Calling for tighter controls, the Union has also appealed to the District Administration to suspend ILP registration for at least one month, stating the temporary halt would allow for “proper scrutiny and to prevent unchecked influx into our district.” It further stated that “strict compliance from all units and concerned authorities is expected in the interest of safeguarding our indigenous rights and security.”

Meanwhile, the Niuland District Administration, along with the Police and CRPF, has deported more than 200 vehicles carrying evicted illegal immigrants attempting to enter the district from Assam. The deportations were carried out across various checkpoints, including the Niuland check post.

From Mokokchung, Superintendent of Police (SP) Mokokchung told Mokokchung Times that “so far, no illegal immigration has been detected in Tsutapela Gate and Tuli area.” However, he confirmed that forces are on high alert, and “border village councils have also been directed to be vigilant and work together in coordination with the police.”

The series of measures reflect growing concerns in Nagaland over undocumented migration, particularly following the eviction of illegal settlers in neighboring Assam.
