The Konyak Union has extended its support to the stance of the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO), urging the Government of Nagaland to ensure that the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority (FNTA) Bill, 2026 strictly adheres to the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) signed on February 5, 2026.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Minister, the Konyak Union stated that it was supporting ENPO’s representation dated March 26, 2026, regarding the need to uphold the MoA in both letter and spirit while framing and passing the FNTA Bill.

Describing the MoA signed in New Delhi between the Govt of India, the Govt of Nagaland, and ENPO as a “historic and significant step,” the Union said it addresses the long-standing aspirations and developmental concerns of the people of Eastern Nagaland.

It emphasized that, “any legislative process concerning the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority (FNTA) must, therefore, strictly uphold the letter and spirit of the agreed MoA.”

The Union further cautioned against any dilution of the agreed provisions, stating that the Government of Nagaland must ensure that the assurances enshrined in the MoA are not altered during the legislative process.

“Any deviation from the agreed terms may undermine the trust and confidence reposed by the people and stakeholders in this important process,” the letter noted.

Appealing to the State Government, the Konyak Union urged that necessary steps be taken to safeguard the integrity of the MoA so that the FNTA Bill, 2026 reflects the commitments made. It stated that such measures would help strengthen mutual trust and foster unity, paving the way for peace, development, and progress in the region.

The Union also expressed hope that the leadership of the State Government would uphold justice, fairness, and the aspirations of the people of Eastern Nagaland in the ongoing process.
