The Konyak Union (KU) Headquarters, Mon, has strongly condemned the brutal killing of two NSCN-K (Ang Mai) cadres in Khamtiang Village, Pangsau area, Myanmar’s Naga Self-Administered Zone, on 9th January 2026.
Lieutenant Avi Pochury and Sergeant Peyao Konyak were killed, while another cadre sustained serious injuries in an alleged attack carried out by the NSCN-Yung Aung (YA) faction.

Expressing “profound anguish and outrage,” the KU said the attack was a grave betrayal of the shared sacrifices, history, and aspirations of the Naga people. The statement warned that internal conflicts weaken the Naga political movement, erode trust, and cause suffering among innocent civilians.

The union called on all Naga political factions to exercise utmost restraint, respect human life, and abandon violence in favour of dialogue and peaceful engagement. “Unity among Naga brothers and sisters is not optional; it is imperative for achieving a just, honourable, and lasting political solution,” the statement said.

The KU also extended its deepest condolences to the families of the deceased cadres, pledging solidarity during their time of grief.
