Congress candidate T Chalukumba Ao visited Mangmetong village on Tuesday, accompanied by S Supongmeren Jamir, President of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee, and Apok Jamir.
The delegation expressed gratitude for the warm welcome extended by the Village Council and residents.
Addressing the gathering, Supongmeren Jamir said that Imkong L Imchen had been a mentor to him despite political differences, describing him as a principled leader who raised concerns against wrongdoing within his party. He appealed to the public to support Chalukumba Ao in the upcoming election.
In his address, Chalukumba Ao reflected on the 2023 elections, stating that the victory was largely due to the leadership and influence of the late Imkong L Imchen.
He emphasised that, if elected in the Koridang by-election, he would play a strong opposition role to address public grievances and work towards education and youth empowerment.
