B JP candidate Daochier I Imchen on Friday submitted his nomination papers to contest the seat earlier held by his father, Imkong L Imchen, a five-time MLA who passed away in November 2025. He is the first candidate to file nominations for the 28 Koridang Assembly Constituency by-election scheduled for April 9.
Several other names are also doing the rounds to contest the by-poll, including Abenjang, who has been awarded the NPP ticket, Imtiwapang Kichu, who will be contesting as an Independent candidate, former NPF Central Youth Wing president Imchatoba Imchen, and former NPF candidate Maj. Toshikaba (Retd). The Congress party is yet to make any formal announcement.

The last date for filing nominations is Monday, March 23. Scrutiny of nominations will be held on March 24, and the last date for withdrawal of candidatures is March 26.
