Polling for the by-election to the 28 Koridang Assembly Constituency was conducted successfully on April 9, 2026, recording an approximate voter turnout of 82.21 percent across all 30 polling stations, according to the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland.
In a press note, Chief Electoral Officer Bhagyashree Banayat, IAS, informed that following the completion of polling, the Electronic Voting Machines and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail machines were securely stored in designated strong rooms.
The storage process was carried out in the presence of contesting candidates or their representatives, along with Central Observers appointed by the Election Commission of India, under videography and in accordance with prescribed protocols.
Security arrangements include a two-tier armed security system, with a minimum of one platoon deployed, along with round-the-clock CCTV surveillance. Reserve EVMs and VVPATs have also been stored separately as per guidelines.
All contesting candidates have been informed in writing to depute representatives to observe the security arrangements. They have been permitted to remain outside the inner security perimeter, with live CCTV displays made available for monitoring.
The strong rooms will be opened on the day of counting in the presence of candidates, their representatives and Central Observers under videography. (With DIPR inputs)
