KS Accessories is named after the two sisters Kajenmenla and Sashikala Jamir of Longmisa village, who live in Aongza ward in Mokokchung town and are recognized for their vividly fashioned traditional and modern necklaces and earrings.
Unlike many others, the two enterprising sisters decided to get some work done during the lockdown rather than just laze around the house and that is how the journey of KS Accessories began.
The sisters didn’t initially enjoy wearing earrings and had no concept that a business might begin with them, but with family support and the encouraging feedback they received from their first customer, they decided to formally launch KS Accessories in March 2021.
Today, Mokokchung Times interviews the two sisters to learn more about them.
MTimes: Hello Amen and Aka, have you two now learned to develop an interest in wearing earrings and other jewelry?
KS: Yes, very much! Now we never go out without wearing any accessories.
MTimes: How encouraging was the first review you got from a customer, and what was it?
KS: The first comment we had from a customer was, “This doesn’t appear like anything built for the first time. I’m very impressed. Keep creating.” Receiving such a large compliment inspired us to aspire larger and boosted our confidence.
MTimes: Since KS Accessories began its voyage in 2021, how have things changed in terms of style, design, and quality?
KS: A lot has changed in the past year since our business started. We used to make only a few designs or similar styles at first, but now we have a wide range of styles and designs ranging from simple to fancy, k-pop influenced products (because we have to keep up with the trend), Naga traditional products, and so on, all with the best quality materials because, at the end of the day, quality matters no matter how trendy or beautiful the product is.
MTimes: Where do you obtain your raw materials from for your necklaces and earrings, and how do you make sure your customers are receiving the highest quality possible?
KS: We generally get our raw materials from other places and different online sites, and to ensure that our customers get quality products, we produce them with the utmost love and care and the best quality resources. We also thoroughly test it, such as drop testing, which is commonly done with heavy products such as necklaces to evaluate the strength, etc.
MTimes: Which of the many goods that KS Accessory sells is the most economy and time friendly?
KS: So far, the facemask chain/holder, which we sell at a very low price, is the most cost-effective and time-efficient.
MTimes: What do you think KS Accessories’ greatest accomplishment to date is?
KS: The greatest accomplishment is making 200 mask holders in a day for a program.
MTimes: How do you want to grow KS Accessories going forward?
KS: We hope to maintain our items authentic while yet running a viable business. We wish to expand our business by constantly modifying and testing our materials. In the coming years, we hope to gain more experience directing projects for a larger number of clients and to broaden our responsibilities within this role in order to achieve our goal.
MTimes: What suggestions would you provide customers who buy your designs?
KS: One suggestion we’d like to make to customers is that all of our products are handcrafted, so please be mindful that minor faults are part of the handmade process that makes our products unique. Also, we would want to hear from all of our clients because feedback is the most crucial tool for our growth.
MTimes: A message to our readers.
KS: There are many people who have huge and exciting ideas but are not taking action because they believe their dream is too big to take big and daring measures. This is where many a lot of people go wrong. We must take modest steps at a time, just as we eat one mouthful at a time and write one word at a time, and not give up because success begins small.
