Kuda Village ‘A’ Khel celebrated its 75th anniversary, the Platinum Jubilee, on November 7, 2024, at Jotsoma Community Hall, Kuda Village ‘A’ Khel.
The history of Kuda Village ‘A’ Khel dates back to the early days of modernization, when Lt Dr Üzelie Peseyie—one of the first educated Nagas—returned to his village with a vision for its future, as shared by guest speaker Nibu Nagi, proprietor of NN Nagi School and a renowned businessman.
Having studied in Shillong, Dr Peseyie made a remarkable journey on foot from Kohima to Dimapur during his school days, according to Nagi. Upon his return to the village, Dr Peseyie encouraged his fellow villagers to recognize the economic opportunities in the Dimapur area, urging them to settle there. This vision led to the founding of the Jotsoma Farmer’s Cooperative Society in 1963, Nagi explained.
Nagi reflected on the village’s growth over the years and expressed hopes for continued unity, peace, and prosperity. He noted that this anniversary would be remembered for years to come and congratulated the elders of Kuda ‘A’ Khel for their contributions to the village’s upliftment. He also urged the gathering to continue living in unity and peace as they celebrated this significant milestone.
The jubilee monolith was unveiled by Rev Savito Nagi, President of the Angami Baptist Church Council (ABCC), along with Thejazelhou Peseyie, the youngest son of Lt Dr Üzelie Peseyie, who unveiled the pioneer’s monolith.
Earlier, the program was chaired by Vikie Nagi, Chairman of Kuda Village. The invocation was pronounced by Vizieto Nagi, followed by a welcome address from Neingusie Nagi, Convener of the Planning Committee. Kelezhalie Nagi, Pastor of Seithekiema ‘A’ Baptist Church, released the Jubilee Souvenir.
Greetings were delivered by Head GB Thepfuko Nagi, Deacon Khrieselie Nakhro, and Assistant Commissioner Kelevituo Nisa from the Commissioner’s Office in Kohima. Special performances were presented by the youths of Kuda ‘A’ Khel and staff from NN Nagi School. The vote of thanks was delivered by Khrienilie Nagi, and Professor Rokoneituo Nakhro offered the benediction. The celebration concluded with a jubilee feast.
