Advisor for CAWD and Taxes, Kudecho Khamo, who also serves as Chairman of the Phek District Planning and Development Board (DPDB), on Monday called for a wider cleanliness movement throughout Phek district.
Addressing the monthly DPDB meeting held at the Conference Hall of the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Pfütsero, he directed the district administration to issue an order mandating a cleanliness drive across the towns and villages of Phek district on the first Saturday of every month.
He announced that awards would be given to the cleanest towns and villages as an incentive to promote cleanliness in the district.
Khamo encouraged each department to undertake a model iconic project in the district to inspire and support progressive and hardworking farmers and entrepreneurs.
He emphasized the need for collective efforts from government officials and all stakeholders to achieve a “Viksit Nagaland” in line with the vision of “Viksit Bharat.”
Highlighting the high unemployment rate, he urged leaders to guide society, asserting that Nagas have a bright future beyond government jobs and can succeed through prayer, hard work, and honesty.
Khamo also felicitated and commended Padma Shri awardee Sano Vamuzo, who was recently honored with the Baptist World Alliance (BWA) 2025 Congress Quinquennial Human Rights Award, conferred by the largest Baptist association in the world. He praised her contributions to society at large.
Furthermore, he stressed the need for strong attendance and urged members to be more sincere, committed, and dedicated to fulfilling public aspirations as a team. Noting various government schemes and welfare programs, he said it is the responsibility of those in leadership—political, administrative, and bureaucratic—to ensure these benefits reach the deserving at the grassroots.
Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Dr. Neisatuo Mero acknowledged DPDB Chairman and Advisor Kudecho Khamo for giving Pfütsero the privilege of hosting the meeting and appreciated the administration at Pfütsero, led by the ADC.
Expressing interest in the solar rooftop project being implemented across the country and the state, he said it is a commendable programme and sought support from the Power Department for greater outreach so that people in the district can avail the facility.
He also emphasized the importance of the cleanliness drive initiated by the district administration and called for it to be taken up with seriousness.
The meeting was chaired by the Deputy Commissioner of Phek, Rhosietho Nguori, who also welcomed the new members.
