Advisor for Civil Administration Works Division (CAWD) and MLA Kudecho Khamo, who is also the legislator in-charge of the Naga People’s Front (NPF) Public Grievances Cell, on Friday urged members of the newly constituted cell to engage with the people, listen to their concerns and strengthen the party through meaningful public interaction.

Addressing a meeting of the NPF Public Grievances Cell at the party’s central office in Kohima, Khamo thanked Chief Minister and NPF President Neiphiu Rio for entrusting him with the responsibility of overseeing the cell.

Describing the NPF as one of the country’s oldest regional political parties, Khamo said it has consistently championed the political aspirations of the Nagas. He stressed the need to preserve Naga identity, traditions and faith, while expressing concern that growing materialism and greed had weakened unity and contributed to divisions among the people.

Calling for unity beyond tribal differences and economic interests, he urged party members to strengthen the regional party, saying a strong NPF would also strengthen the Naga voice.

Referring to the Public Grievances Cell, Khamo said it should make every effort to listen to people, understand their concerns and engage with them through dialogue, even if every grievance cannot be resolved.

The meeting, chaired by convenor Z Neikuo Lhousa, also discussed greater inclusivity, public welfare, the establishment of a grievance redressal mechanism and other organisational matters.
