More than eighty Kuki Region workers from both the civil and military wings, led by senior GPRN/NSCN leader C Singson Kuki, held a significant meeting with Ato Kilonser and Convener of the Working Committee, NNPGs, N Kitovi Zhimomi, along with Vice President Chennyiem Konyak, at the Oking.
In a statement issued by the MIP, GPRN/NSCN, the Kukis of Nagaland were reminded of “their inseparable link with the Naga political movement, which is rooted in the soil of Nagaland.”
The meeting recalled the contribution of the “legendary Lengjan Kuki, the only Kuki signatory of the January 10, 1929, memorandum to the British Statutory Commission,” who “remains a beacon of light for indigenous Kukis of Nagaland.”
Highlighting the long-standing role of Kukis in the Naga struggle, the statement said, “The contribution of Kukis to the Naga political movement from 1929 till date was remarkable for a fact that Kukis had stood shoulder to shoulder with the Naga pioneers in the political movement, much earlier than our own Naga brothers from Manipur and this fact of history cannot be erased.”
The Kuki national workers were encouraged “to continue the legacy of the pioneers,” and were reminded that “to question the Kuki Naga National workers would be questioning the very Naga history itself.” They were also advised “to ignore the false scripts of those late entrants of the Naga movement, trying to rewrite and diminish Naga history, identity and culture with dubious impractical narrative.”
The Kuki delegation also expressed appreciation for the leadership of the GPRN/NSCN under President Maj. (Retd.) R.M. Lotha and Convener N Kitovi Zhimomi. “Kukis of Nagaland, as stakeholders, would heartily welcome honorable and acceptable political solution between GoI and the Nagas,” the statement said.
The Kukis further affirmed that “indigenous Kukis would remain an integral part of the Naga political and social system and would continue to protect and defend Nagaland.”
